When using a user license, T*SOL maintains a license session on the license server. For the duration of a license session, the user license is bound to the respective device and cannot be used on any other device (see Usage on multiple devices).

There are two different operating modes for the license session:

  • Online mode: The online license session begins when the program is started and ends when it is closed. In online mode, an internet connection is required, both for starting and while using the program.
  • Offline mode: The duration of an offline license session is set manually. The license is bound to the respective device for the entire duration of the offline license session, even if the program is closed. In offline mode, an internet connection is not required, neither to start nor while using the program.

To change the operating mode, open the License information dialog via the menu Help > Licensing and click the button .

Online mode

When you start the program in online mode, an online license session is started on the license server.

In online mode, an internet connection is required, both for starting and while using the program.

For the duration of the license session, the user license is bound to the respective device and cannot be used on any other device (see Usage on multiple devices).

  • The online license session is valid for 15 minutes
  • As long as the program is open, the validity of the license session is renewed continuously
  • After successful renewal, the license session is valid for another 15 minutes
  • When you close the program, the license session on the license server is ended.

After closing the program, the license can be used on another device.

If the internet connection is interrupted

If the internet connection is interrupted, the license session cannot be renewed and expires after 15 minutes. Before the license session expires, you will be informed about the upcoming expiry with a corresponding dialog.

If the online license session expires while the program is open, the program will be restricted in its function:

  • Starting new projects is not possible
  • Project files cannot be loaded

Once the internet connection is restored, the online license session will be renewed and the restrictions will be lifted.

Offline mode

If you want to use T*SOL without the need for an internet connection, you can use the license in offline mode for a limited period of time.

Select the duration for the offline mode and confirm with . An offline license session with the chosen duration will then be started on the license server.

No internet connection is required for the duration of the offline license session, neither to start nor while using the program.

The license is bound to the respective device for the entire duration of the offline license session, even if the program is closed. The license cannot be used on any other device during this time (see Usage on multiple devices).

Offline mode can be ended prematurely only on the device, on which the offline license session was started.

If the offline license session expires while the program is open, the program will be restricted in its function:

  • Starting new projects is not possible
  • Project files cannot be loaded

If the offline license session expires while the program is closed, you will be informed about the expiration of the license session with a corresponding dialog the next time you start the program. The program then starts in online mode.
