Variant Menu: Preferences > Building > Heating

On the Heating page, define the conventional heating system and the supply area for the air collector heating.

In the Conventional Heating section, determine if a conventional heating system is present. If so, choose the type of hot water heating system (underfloor or radiators) and define the heating period. If not, the conventional heating is not displayed in the system schematic.

In the Connection of Air Collectors section, the settings depend on your selections on the Use page.

For a mechanically vented building with an air intake function, ventilation can receive air preheated by the air collectors. This preheating of the intake air has two consequences:

  1. In preheating mode, the air collectors will run as long as they can produce air warmer than the outside air temperature. Normally, in “heating support” mode, the air collectors will only run if they can produce air warmer than the building’s temperature.

  2. If the air collectors supply a greater volume of air than the mechanical ventilation is set to use, the excess air from the air collectors is bypassed and will not enter the building. This means that if mechanical ventilation is turned off, no heated air from the collectors will enter the building.

Legend:

  1. Output of air collector circuit
  2. Solar air heated to the building
  3. Outside air
  4. Heat recovery - in
  5. Supply air
  6. Air in by forced ventilation
  7. Return air
  8. Heat recovery - out

For buildings without mechanical ventilation, specify whether the entire building or partial areas will be supplied with heating from the air collectors. This section is only accessible if you have set no mechanical ventilation on the Use page. Define partial areas based on supplied floors or compass direction:

  • All floors or only the first floor, central floor(s), or the roof floor
  • Entire floors or the south-west, south-east, north-west, or north-east floor area. For a building with a 45° orientation (e.g., north-east) (see chapter Type of Construction), the floor areas of south, north, east, and west are available. This means the building is divided into four equally-sized, rectangular supply areas. Example: Roof floor and south, where only the south quadrant of the top floor is supplied.
